The focus will depend on the specific needs of your child, but common skill targets include:

  • Toilet training
  • Adaptive living skills (feeding, dressing, bathing)
  • Receptive language (following directions, selecting objects)
  • Expressive language (labeling objects, people, emotions)
  • Play and leisure skills (playing with toys, expanding beyond electronics)
  • Social skills (initiating conversation, responding to questions from peers, interactive play)
  • Ready-to-learn behaviors (sitting in a chair at table or desk, looking at instructor)

ABA therapy works by slowly changing your child’s behavior with proven behavioral treatment principles. Your child is encouraged with reinforcers (food, toys, computer time, bubbles, verbal praise, etc.) for positive behaviors. Negative behaviors are ignored and replaced with positive replacement skills.

Our goal is to increase or decrease targeted behaviors in everyday situations so your child can live a functional, happy life.

Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) is a therapeutic approach that has been showed to shown to improve socially significant behaviors in all areas of development for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other behavioral challenges, including:

  • Communication
  • Social emotional adjustment
  • Adaptive behaviors
  • Fine motor skills
  • Cognition
